5th Grade is presenting their No Place for Hate: Kindness Assembly at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23. Please wait to be called down to the gym and use the seating chart linked here.
SHIELD Testing - The week of May 23 is the last week of SHIELD testing. Rapid antigen testing will be available at the District Office (7:45-8:15 am) through the last day of student attendance.
Field Day is on Tuesday, May 24. Please see the linked Field Day Plan for the day. Thank you to Matt Norris and Kevin Shanahan for organizing the fun! We will have a dedication ceremony for Maria Roman at 2:45 p.m. in front of the school by parent pick up. Her bench will be placed outside with a plaque in her memory. The Taking Ownership PBIS Booster ends on Wednesday, May 25. Teachers should hold their classroom celebrations on Thursday, May 26 or Friday, May 27. All Staff: This summer the Leadership Team will be hosting a voluntary book study. We will be reading Zaretta Hammond’s Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain. In this book, Zaretta Hammond draws on cutting-edge neuroscience research to offer an innovative approach for designing and implementing brain-compatible culturally responsive instruction. The book includes:
Information on how one’s culture programs the brain to process data and affects learning relationships
Ten “key moves” to build students’ learner operating systems and prepare them to become independent learners
Prompts for action and valuable self-reflection
The book study will meet on the below dates at Northwood Middle School from 12:30-2:30pm. Lunch will be provided. Please complete this form by Friday, May 20th to indicate your participation and if you need a copy of the book.
